Objective:

To obtain a position that will utilize my personality, skills and experience to contribute to my employer’s success.

Experience:

Graphic Designer/Graphics Specialist, Jonesborough Herald & Tribune, Jonesborough, TN

01-2011 through 05/2015

As a graphic designer and specialist at a small weekly newspaper, my responsibilities varied and included designing advertisements, laying out editorial pages, producing graphics to enhance a story, updating the website as well as sweeping the floor, answering the phones, meeting with subscribers/problem solving, handling IT questions and problems and changing the water bottle.

Owner/Operator, Ted’s Place Graphic Café, Fort Myers, FL

09/1996 through 09/2009

I owned and operated a digital print shop called Ted’s Place in Fort Myers, FL. I was responsible for every aspect of operating the business, including talking to customers about their needs, designing the  jobs to the customers’ satisfaction using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Corel Draw (I prefer Corel Draw over Illustrator for ease of use and better tools). After approval, I set the jobs up for printing on one of our four digital presses, depending on the job needs. After printing, I finished the job in the bindery, packed and delivered the job. Of course, I also performed estimating and billing operations.

Owner/Operator, NewsWorX, Saylorsburg, PA

07/1991 through 09/1996

As owner/operator of NewsWorX, I designed print jobs for various local printers in the Poconos and, when approved, I delivered film used to make printing plates and in some cases, even made the plates for the customer.

Graphic Arts Instructor, Lehigh County Vocational-Technical School, Schnecksville, PA

04/1981 through 06/1991

Using my previous experience in the printing industry, I taught 10th grade students all phases of printing, from design through bindery. In my capacity there, it was my job to introduce the students to the printing industry and encourage them to pursue a career in the graphic arts for their 11th and 12th grade years.
